No doubt considerable EDITING of the FLOOD STORY went on as

it was retold and copied from one generation to the next, but I will here

make the point, and attempt to defend it, that the ESSENE SCRIBES

at Qumran, editors and preservers of the DEAD SEA SCROLLS, are

more responsible than anyone else for what we are reading in our

Bibles today......

They were major copyists of Scripture, and they had the opportunity and

the motivation to edit these Scriptures in several creative ways. ......What's

more, Noah was a particularly admired hero of theirs, for numerous and

varied reasons..... A number of the recently translated DEAD SEA

SCROLLS are specifically about Noah, and others, such as the various

versions of the "Book of ENOCH", perhaps the ESSENE's favorite Book

outside the Bible Books themselves, are about both Noah and the days just

preceding the great flood.

The biggest "CLUES" to the editing of ordinary Scripture by these

world-famed ancient copyists of Scripture is that they credited their

Biblical "Heros" with their own sexual and dietary habits whenever

the story allowed them to...... Thus ADAM and EVE were originally

VEGETARIANS, although their son Abel was a sheep-herder..... The

implication is allowed that all pre-flood patriarchs were VEGETARIAN

also, perhaps accounting for the very long life-spans of such as

Methusaleh....... Not until after the FLOOD was divine permission given

to eat meat, and then only clean meats with all the blood drained

out [Kosher foods]. ........Abraham was obviously NOT a vegetarian,

and even fed his heavenly visitors meat [which they ate], but Moses

led Israel not only out of Egypt, but back to a VEGETARIAN diet... And

the people were denied intercourse for three days before they heard God

repeat the TEN COMMANDMENTS at the smoking mountain......

The ESSENES were not only the

MOST FAMOUS VEGETARIANS

of their day but practiced CELIBACY much of the time........ And

Daniel, another of their heros, is pictured as eating a VEGETARIAN

diet while preparing mentally for an exam by Nebuchadnezzar,

King of Babylon. ......And proved to be 10 times wiser than the meat-

aters who were also examined!
